Environmental Scientist/Engineer - Honolulu (22017)

We have an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Scientist / Engineer in our Honolulu, HI office. Selected candidate will serve as a key technical resource and assist the client in leading environmental compliance and research programs, that will include performing field surveys, environmental sampling, conducting studies and preparing reports. The programs involved include water quality monitoring, Best Management Practice (BMP) inspections / compliance, treatment system design and operation / maintenance, debris control assessments, total maximum daily load (TMDL) studies, trash studies and other work as required. The candidate will apply engineering calculations in support of ongoing compliance evaluations for the assessments / studies. Through ongoing mentoring, formal training, and diverse project work, you will have the opportunity to continue professional development and growth in stormwater compliance and environmental studies.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Two to five years of experience in environmental consulting or compliance.
  • Experience with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permits and managing research-oriented stormwater management programs including total maximum daily load (TMDL) studies, trash evaluations, MS4 verification surveys, water quality monitoring, erosion and sediment control inspections, discharge monitoring, and public outreach.
  • Experience in sampling stormwater discharges and treatment systems preferred.
  • Must have technical aptitude, including the ability to learn applications, systems, policies and procedures quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work in the field under hot, humid and stormy conditions.
  • Strong knowledge/ experience with GIS software (ArcGIS), including figure preparation as well as database design and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and on team assignments.
  • Knowledge/experience in hydrologic modeling a plus.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (approximately 50 lbs.).
  • OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
