We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Technical Editor to support our Pacific Business Unit (CA, WA, AK, HI, MT, and GU offices).

What you will do:

The Technical Editor will provide remote technical support for editorial review and document formatting of client deliverables. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Checking grammar, spelling, and formatting.
  • Evaluating the overall editorial quality of each written deliverable.
  • Offering advice to authors on formatting, organization, and other issues when deliverables are being prepared.
  • Ensuring that:
    • The overall document reflects company policy and style.
    • Client-specific requirements are met.
    • Required elements are included and correct.
    • Integrity of a document and that all components match.
    • Text and graphics conform to visual requirements.
    • Clear and effective presentation of text.
    • Performing editing tasks related to grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency.
    • Verifying that the contents; lists of tables, figures, acronyms/abbreviations, and appendixes; header/footers; and page numbering are in order and accurate.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or science-related field plus 2+ years of experience in technical editing and formatting business and technical documentation, including reports and proposals OR Associate’s degree in English or related field plus 4+ years of experience in technical editing and formatting business and technical documentation including reports and proposals.
  • Good technical writing skills to help identify issues with clarity and suggest rework of text as appropriate.
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills (Word [including experience with Styles], Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with 508 compliance.
  • Knowledge/experience with Adobe products; strong pdf compilation skills and preference for InDesign skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
