National Service Line Manager - Climate Services (22171)

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Service Line Manager - Climate Services based out of our Hunt Valley, MD office.

The successful candidate will coordinate, support and drive development of EA’s Climate Services offerings including market assessment, marketing resource and proposal development, support of project execution, and client development and relationship management.  Operating from EA’s Client Programs Group, the Service Line Manager will be supported by technical, project management, and client development personnel across EA. The Service Line Manager will collaborate with senior managers and subject matter experts in key climate service areas. The role has specifically been designed to minimize the direct management of personnel internally in order to maximize the ability to focus on strategic growth and development of these services.  Responsibilities include identifying, marketing, and capturing contracts or stand-alone projects with a variety of clients, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and mentoring staff on contract and client requirements. The individual will serve in a programmatic or key account role supporting EA resources and managing client relationships.

What you will do: You will work with a team of professionals as you advise clients on climate action planning and vulnerability assessment, as well as climate adaptation and mitigation strategies.   Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Working in a complex matrix organization environment.
  • Participating and/or leading cross functional teams.
  • Fostering internal and external collaborations.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert for climate-related services, interpreting guidelines, evaluating information, and expanding EA’s service offerings.
  • Providing training on the use of climate adaptation data or mitigation techniques.
  • Maintaining knowledge of current data, trends and practices in climate adaptation, climate resilience, nature-based solutions, and related disciplines.
  • Maintaining scientific credibility through peer reviewed publications, research, and communication and established relationships such as serving at board or committee level.

What you will need:

  • Master’s Degree (PhD a plus) in related scientific field or relevant discipline.
  • Recognized certification or registration e.g., Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P) or if engineer, PE preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting observational climate data, global models, and scenarios.
  • Experience in the development and use of high-resolution climate projections in climate impact assessments and climate adaptation and resilience planning across a broad range of sectors and geographies.
  • Experience with carbon management strategies, and relevant regulatory frameworks a plus
  • Experience with data modeling into operations, supply chain logistics, compliance predictions and monitoring, and strategic planning.
  • Experience working across different cultures, and with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing complex projects including the financial aspects and coordinating the work of peers and partners.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Strong business acumen and attributes, coupled with a commitment to EA Core Values
  • Ability to travel to client and EA operations as required (estimated 25% travel).
