We are seeking a motivated senior level Geologist with oil and gas experience to provide assistance with subsurface site characterization and conceptual site model development to support Federal and state contracts focused on remediation of groundwater contamination. The successful candidate will work across a range of geological settings to utilize environmental sequence stratigraphy to help developed testable insights into the site-specific role facies architecture plays on the distribution of permeability and its effect on groundwater movement and transport of environmental contaminants.

This position requires an individual with a desire to develop effective communication skills as client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. We are seeking an individual with the motivation to gain experience applying his or her existing reservoir modeling techniques to support site assessments, due diligence projects, and other groundwater remediation projects under a variety of Federal and State contracts. Candidates should be self-motivated, be committed to working in a team environment, and be able to work on projects with variable complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a versatile range of environmental consulting services, with a focus on contaminated groundwater remediation, to government and private industry.
  • Support a wide variety of environmental compliance projects.
  • Compile regional and site-specific geologic data sets and published literature to support development of conceptual site models for project proposals and technical reports.
  • Develop regional and site-specific cross sections using existing well logs, downhole geophysical logs, and similar data to inform site investigations and remedial action.
  • Support technology transfer of oil and gas industry techniques to in-house environmental teams.
  • Work with diverse team to leverage oil and gas reservoir characterization techniques for application in aquifer characterization.

Requirements:

  • MS degree in Geology, Geophysics or related technical field with proficiency in stratigraphic analysis and sedimentology.
  • 5-7 years of experience, primarily in reservoir characterization and modeling for oil and gas exploration and development.
  • Demonstrated experience with Geostatistical and 3-D Geologic modeling.
  • Programming experience in Python a plus; familiarity with GIS a plus.
  • Computer proficient including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Willingness to apply past experience to a new set of problems, develop new skills.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
