We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Payroll Administrator.    This position will be based out of our Hunt Valley, MD location but can be fully remote. The successful candidate will process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls in an accurate and timely manner for our 500+ employees using Paycom software. Processing includes weekly timesheet verification, data entry for new hires, employee payroll changes, direct deposit information, W-4 updates, corrected timesheets, retroactive adjustments, garnishments, and any other personal action changes provided by Human Resources.  Responsibilities also include the preparation of all the journal entries associated with the payroll, including preparation of the Paycom to G/L interface file as well as verification and accuracy of all W-2 statements, multi-state tax filings preparation, and accurately accounting for all benefit leave time on a bi-weekly basis. The incumbent will also need to manipulate other in-house financial business software for payroll and financial reporting.

Experience and Education

  • A minimum of a high school degree with five or more years of business payroll processing experience, or a Bachelor degree with greater than 3 years of experience.
  • Experience noted above to include hands-on day-to-day payroll experience, alongside the knowledge to ensure compliance with all Federal, State/Local and DOL laws and regulations, in addition to the capability to learn and apply EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC’s policies and procedures.
  • The successful candidate will be highly proficient with third-party payroll systems. Paycom payroll software experience is strongly desired.

Other Qualifications

  • A professional business acumen to include the ability to work in a very fast-paced payroll department as a collaborative co-worker and independent thinker.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to learn quickly are vital.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level to varying levels of staff.
  • Must be able to effectively handle employee payroll concerns, as well as external auditors, and troubleshoot by phone and remote desktop with Paycom staff.
  • Must be very organized with great attention to detail for payroll data accuracy.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll taxes and laws
  • Proficient with general ledger and journal entry accounting
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit plans
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Excel is a must, plus other MS Products. 
  • The ability to navigate other business software systems in obtaining payroll and other financial data.
  • Current APA certification, membership in the American Payroll Association or other local chapters affiliations, such as Charm City Payroll Association or a demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing education in the payroll field a plus,
