We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Coastal Engineer with at least 15 years of experience to manage a wide range of projects including assessment of vulnerability and risk (specifically related to sea level rise) in coastal environments, adaptation design development including the improvement of coastal resilience through structural and nature-based feature design, living shorelines, dredging and beneficial use of sediment, ecosystem restoration projects, and sediment transport modeling.   

Responsibilities include management of design projects including development of specifications, cost estimating, coastal and hydraulic modeling, and coordinating with restoration ecologists. Clientele interaction will be wide ranging including Department of Defense entities, National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, ports, non-profits, and commercial entities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Engineering or related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in supporting a wide range of engineering projects including improving coastal resiliency, dredge design, living shorelines, coastal flood mapping, beneficial use of sediment, ecosystem restoration projects, and support for climate adaptation planning.
• Demonstrated project management experience with exceptional leadership, cost control, and oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across EA departments and operations with all levels of staff.
• Activity in industry and trade associations (ASBPA, ASCE/COPRI, SAME, etc.) with regular presentation of professional papers/presentations.
• Demonstrated experience in the areas of cost & proposal development, program/account management, quality control, and technical writing.
• Position will require short term travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Varied experience with wide ranging geographies, including experience working in the Arctic.
• Experience with developing designs in remote and difficult to reach project locations
• Certification in one or more related discipline areas – e.g., P.E., CFM, or PMP.
