We have an excellent opportunity for a junior level Scientist/Engineer with experience to support a wide range of projects including the improvement of coastal resilience, ecosystem restoration, living shoreline design, and climate adaptation planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of vulnerabilities associated with sea level rise and storm events, analysis of the ecological response to climate change in the coastal environment and a general understanding of hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Clientele will be wide ranging including Department of Defense entities, National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, ports, non-profits, and commercial entities.
  • Support will also be needed for business development activities including maintaining schedules, tracking of opportunities, proposal and presentation support, and providing general support for business development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Two years experience writing vulnerability/risk assessments and regulatory permit applications for coastal projects.
  • Strong writing skills are a must.
  • Understanding of physical and ecological components of coastal systems specifically as they related to coastal vulnerability assessments and implementation of coastal restoration or construction efforts.

 Preferred location of position will be in close proximity to an EA office in Maryland, Tidewater Virginia area, or southern New England.
