We are seeking a motivated senior level Geologist with experience working as a Hydrogeologist with a focus on numerical groundwater modeling.

This position requires an individual with a desire to develop effective communication skills as client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. Candidates should be self-motivated, be committed to working in a team environment, and be able to work on projects with variable complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop numerical groundwater models to support contaminant fate and transport, groundwater remedial design, and performance assessment of existing groundwater extraction systems.  
  • Perform groundwater flow and transport modelling in 2D and 3D using computer modeling software.
  • Participate in conceptual model development, data analysis and numerical modeling activities.
  • Prepare reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Manage priorities to support multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Manage and participate actively in the development of budgets and plans for projects and proposals.
  • Manage tasks and workloads as appropriate to the role.

Requirements:

  • MS degree or Ph.D. in geology, hydrogeology, engineering or related technical field with a strong background in groundwater fate and transport modeling.
  • Previous experience (6 years +) of working as a Hydrogeologist with a focus on numerical groundwater modeling.
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with 2D and 3D groundwater flow and transport modelling software (e.g. MODFLOW (and MT3D) and/or FEFLOW,).
  • Experience of groundwater contamination risk assessment modeling (desirable)
  • Coding/scripting skills to support groundwater flow model development (e.g. Python) and knowledge of statistics as applied to hydrogeology (desirable).
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with good time-management ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English as well as well-developed interpersonal skills.
