Part-time Editor - Pacific (22148)

 We have an excellent opportunity for a part-time Technical Editor to support our Pacific Business Unit (CA, WA, AK, HI, MT, and GU offices). The selected candidate will provide technical support for editorial reviews of client deliverables.

What you will do:  You will be responsible for: (1) checking grammar, spelling, and formatting; and (2) evaluating the overall editorial quality of each written deliverable (i.e., whether the purpose of a deliverable is clearly stated; the discussion is coherent and consistent; the deliverable is clear, readable, and well organized; data are clearly presented in tables and figures; and the deliverable contains an appropriate summary). Technical editors also offer advice to authors on formatting, organization, and other issues when deliverables are being prepared.

What you will need:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (English or similar) in writing, journalism, or related field plus 1-3 years of experience in writing, editing, and preparing business or technical documentation OR Associate’s degree in writing, journalism, or related field plus 3-5 years of experience in writing, editing, and preparing business or technical documentation.
  • Good technical writing skills to help identify issues with clarity and rework text as appropriate.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills.
