We have an excellent opportunity for a mid-level Engineer in our Hunt Valley, MD office.

Responsibilities

Selected candidate will be responsible, primarily, for supporting a Military Fuels Environmental Compliance Program, specifically a worldwide fuel system leak detection program for a federal client, in the areas of Underground Storage Tank (UST) and Fuel System environmental compliance.  This position has the possibility of remote work for the right candidate.

Specific duties include: fuel system regulatory and best management practice (BMP) leak detection testing support, inspection, and oversight as well as fuel system review and evaluation; task management for environmental compliance projects of varying sizes and complexity; coordination and oversight of subcontractors including leak detection testing and specialty vendors; regulatory review and analysis of both state and federal as well as host nation; testing methodologies, release detection thresholds, and associated criteria; coordination with various Government stakeholders; as well as conducting field-based training for UST systems (UST Operator Training) and development of training materials; extensive technical report preparation; and project accounting.

Projects include: compliance, BMP, and rapid response testing of Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), USTs, underground fuel pipelines, and military service stations; conducting engineering and leak strategy evaluations for bulk fuel systems and military service stations; compliance audits for federal fueling sites; contingency planning; and additional fuel facility related projects.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in chemical/environmental/civil/mechanical engineering. EIT/PE and/or M.S. preferred, but not required.
  • UST and HAZWOPER certifications preferred.
  • 3-7 years of environmental compliance, regulatory and/or engineering experience with a working knowledge and understanding of federal/state regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Specific knowledge of Military Fueling Systems including mechanical understanding of system components and infrastructure is preferred.
  • CONUS and OCONUS travel is required. Candidate must be comfortable both in the office and field.
  • Strong regulatory background.
